In 2019, the first four in each of the 14 Regional Finals will advance to the Semi-Finals, meaning that of the 64 semi-finalists, 56 will have reached that stage through the Regional Finals.
Five new venues will join the Million Dollar Chase in 2019 - Gunnedah, Dapto, Goulburn, Casino and Gosford.
Five venues will host special concerts after the last racing event: Gunnedah (August 31), Bathurst (September 7), Bulli (September 14), Dubbo (September 21) and Wagga (September 28).
Unlike 2018, greyhounds are eligible to compete at as many regional venues as their connections wish, and also at the City Preludes.
Winners only from the October 5 City Preludes will advance to the Semi-Finals.
Eight Semi-Finals will be held on October 11, with winner only advancing the Grand Final and a shot at $1 million.
If last year’s winner Mystic Riot can defend her title, she will become the greatest prizemoney earner in the history of the sport.
From a NSW race perspective, only the winner of the Million Dollar Chase ($1 million) and the winner of the Golden Easter Egg ($250,000), earn more than the runner-up in the Million Dollar Chase ($100,000).
Total prizemoney across all heats, finals and supporting races throughout the series will be in excess of $2 million.
The 2019 TAB Million Dollar Chase Grand Final night on October 18 will kick off a major weekend of racing in Sydney, with the world richest turf event the TAB Everest to be run at Randwick the following day.
